my first year of marriage

I've been married for less than a year and I am realizing that I am repeating the things I disliked most in my parents marriage. They fought all the time and they were loud. I have had a couple of episodes where I have yelled at my husband over minor things and he is baffled. He is sweet and tries to be a calming influence. I'm working on being fair when we have conflicts but I find it is harder than I once imagined. Would be interested in hearing how others have learned to tame their tempers.
